Preface to DISCOGRAPHY REVIEWS: Testament and Katatonia

'Lo. I've been mentioning in my updates here that I am anticipating Testament and Katatonia's new albums coming out later this summer, so I decided that I would lead up to reviews of these new albums with reviews of these bands' entire discographies, one at a time with track-by-tracks and overviews.
I will post the first of these later today, that being Testament's first album "The Legacy", which I will say is one of my favorite thrash albums despite its very raw 80s production. I will probably finish Testament before I start Katatonia, if only because Testament's "Dark Roots of Earth" is coming out a month before Katatonia's "Dead End Kings". Both of these bands, especially Katatonia, have been very consistent and have only evolved throughout their careers, although Testament had a few less memorable (though not bad) albums from "Practice What You Preach" to 'The Ritual", including "Souls of Black". All of these Testament albums, by the way, still had a few very memorable tracks despite their overall being second-rate to such classics as "The Legacy" and "The New Order".

Anyway, as I said I expect to post my review of "The Legacy" later today. This will be starting on a very high note, and I hold "The New Order" in equally high, if not higher, regard, but I will be going over the ups and (sort of) downs of Testament's career, one album at a time.

Either after I review "Dark Roots of Earth" or after I review 2008's excellent "The Formation of Damnation" if I have spare time before "Dark Roots", I will start Katatonia with their black/death/doom full-length debut, "Dance of December Souls", then move on to one of my favorite albums of all time, "Brave Murder Day" (along with the EP that, for me, came with it: "For Funerals to Come"). As I said, Katatonia have had a great and consistent career thus far, and I will go through every album of it.

Looking forward to going through two of my favorite bands. Thanks for reading!
