So today, I recorded a (sort of long) demo/playthrough of the amp's three channels, and posted it to Facebook. I've attempted to embed it here below. My playing isn't very good at all and I know I don't deserve such an amp, but the point is the tones, and of course I can grow into it and will still use it for recordings and jamming. Also I'm looking quite chubby in the video, but hey!
Anyway, not much else going on. Testament have released a 90-second sample of "Rise Up", the first track on the upcoming "Dark Roots of Earth", and you can hear it on SoundCloud:
At this rate, I'm pretty sure that "Dark Roots of Earth" will be album of the year! The other recently-released song, "Native Blood", was good as well.
Katatonia have also shown off a sample of another new song from "Dead End Kings", in their announcement trailer of their upcoming European tour:
Sounds pretty good to me! "Dead Letters" has grown on me a lot also. Between Testament and Katatonia, picking an album of the year might actually be hard!
I will continue my discography reviews of these two bands, although I'm running out of time to finish Testament's, as "Dark Roots of Earth" is supposed to come out on the 27th. I'd better get on that! Expect "Practice What You Preach" and "Souls of Black" album reviews soonish.
I also saw guitarist Dave Mason and his band this past Saturday. While Mason has played with Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and George Harrison along with his old band Traffic, I hadn't heard of him until I went to see him with my uncle. The venue was small and relatively packed, and Mason put on a great show! I won't compare his show to metal shows I've seen, but he was definitely worth seeing if you like classic rock, or any guitar-oriented music.
Yeah, not much going on otherwise. Thanks for reading, and thanks if you watched my sloppy amp demo!
Now listening to: My own amp demo :P
